My Favorite Mobility Tools

One thing I wish I had paid more attention to as a younger athlete was mobility work. The older I get the more I realize that maintaining flexibility and mobility in your body is super important if you want to keep enjoying an active lifestyle and participating in your sports. An active warm up with mobility and dynamic stretches goes a long way in preventing injury down the road. Mobility work is sort of like car maintenance- it keeps an athlete in top condition with routine care. I never really thought much about foam rolling, band work, or the percussion gun until I had an injury. Self care for athletes is important at all ages- even if you are in your 20's, and regular visits to the chiropractor, massage therapist, acupuncturist, or athletic trainer go a long way in preserving good body mechanics and mobility.
